Born and raised in Sweden.

Was first introduced to working with clay in San Diego, California in  1989 where she took courses
and worked in the studio at UCSD. Continued her clay work at St Lawrence College in 1990 where
she studied for several years with Leta Cormier.  She holds a certificate with honours from St Lawrence College.

Christina MCarthy holds memberships in the Ottawa Guild of Potters, South Grenville Guild of Fine Art.
Was twice an invited guest artist in the 1000 Islands Parkway Studio Tour.

Winner of the Juror's Choice Award at the Ottawa Guild of Potters spring show 2002.

Christina works in her own workshop in her home in Brockville and at St Lawrence College
where she is the ceramic studio technician as well as a teacher.

She is an enthusiastic participant in the Brockville Farmers' Market where she sells her pottery
during the warmer seasons. Also she has a small display area in her own workshop where her
work is available by chance or by appointment.

Her work consists mainly of stoneware which she fires earthy rustic glazes in an electric kiln
but also fires a number of her more ornamental pieces in a gas raku kiln for a more colourful  and spectacular effect.

She will build you large scale pieces such as one of a kind planters and birdbaths of a more sculptural nature.
